Mike McLaughlin is a Professor in the School of Agriculture Food and Wine at The University of Adelaide in Australia and Director of the University of Adelaide Fertiliser Technology Research Centre. Mike gained his B.Sc. from the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland, an M.Agr.Sc from the University of Reading (UK) and his Ph.D. from the University of Adelaide (Australia).
Mike’s research interests are in soil/fertilizer chemistry and crop nutrition and he leads a team focussing on the development of new fertilizer formulations to improve crop nutrition and reduce environmental and health concerns regarding losses of fertilizer nutrients and food chain transfer of fertilizer contaminants.
In 2015, Mike won the International Fertilizer Industry Association Norman Borlaug Laureate and is a past winner of the International Plant Nutrition Institute Science Award (2011), the Soil Science Society of America International Award (2008) and is a Fellow of the American Society of Agronomy, the Soil Science Society of America, the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, the Australian Academy of Sciences, and the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.
